The impact of ED on you

Left untreated, ED can cause significant distress for both men and their partners. For a man, ED can lead to lowered self-confidence and can affect self-esteem. ED can also be a symptom of an underlying condition such as diabetes or heart disease, not just a sexual problem. So it is important that you don’t ignore the problem.1

ED affects your whole life, not just your love life
Sex can be an important part of general health and can affect quality of life.1

As with most sexual problems, men with ED often experience emotions such as embarrassment,2 depression and anxiety as a result of their symptoms.3

The issue can be equally as distressing for their partners.1 ED can affect a man’s psychological well being. Men often feel they are unable to discuss concerns about their ED with their partner – they may perceive it as shameful and try to hide it, and in turn this affects their intimacy with their partner. Men should seek help for their ED before it affects their behaviour and relationship with their partner.

Understandably, these feelings may place significant strain on relationships.1 This is a good reason to talk to your doctor if you are having problems with your erections.

ED is too important to ignore
Although it is a very common disorder, most men with ED don't ask for help.3 No doubt, embarrassment is partly responsible for this but it is possible that many men don't have a good understanding of ED or the treatment options.2

Understanding ED is an important part of any treatment.
